Welsh Week

First introduced in 1984 and celebrating it's 25th Anniversary in 2008, This event is based at one of the halls of residence at Aberystwyth University and caters for up to 40 motorcyclists and their partners. Running from Sunday to Sunday, the riding is split up during the week, with 1/2 days run on Monday, Friday and Saturday of approximately 50 miles. With full days riding on Tuesday and Thursday of approximately 100 miles.
The Welsh roads are considerably better than many found in South East England and indeed on one occasion a mountain road was resurfaced between our two visits that week. We use riders pointing the way on junctions when we deviate from the main direction of travel, so no route sheet reading is necessary. This also allows for people to ride at their own speed. Coffee stops are included on the short runs and both coffee and lunch stops are taken on the longer days.
A sponsored swim, weather permitting, takes place on the Tuesday and the proceeds from this collection are donated to charity. The popularity of this run has meant that the entrance is restricted to club members as many have taken part for all the runs. Many people feel that this is like an annual family gathering  because of the nature of the event.
